Dissociative Tally

from Yellow has a pretty good reputation by Babehoven

/

about

Dissociative Tally is largely about feeling detached from my sense of self. As someone who struggles with dissociative tendencies, sometimes I feel like I’m moving around in a foggy dream. This song explores that experience. This EP is largely recorded onto tape and the voice has been slowed down as a form of detachment from my day-to-day voice. The slow, slightly lower drawl of the voice represents what it feels like to be in a state of persistent, mild delirium.

lyrics

I’m not really a songwriter
Like I used to be
Playing keys in the Nutty Nut Nerds
seems to be my peek

At least I was present
At least I felt there

I remember choosing three notes
Randomly
Driving in my car, I woke up
Half asleep

Living in a fog-land
Hard to lock eyes

Talk about dissociative disorders
On the couch
Tally your mental health
Rate the questions from 1 to 10

Do you ever feel you can’t
Keep up with the conversation?
Do you ever watch yourself walk around
In a dream?

I’m afraid of losing you
I’m afraid of losing you
I’m afraid of losing you
